Project Details

I went to Target and bought 4 notebooks (actual notebooks pictured above) removed the original covers, and replaced them with my own by tearing off the originals and threading the new wooden ones on.

I used 0.135" plywood because that's what I had on hand, but .125" hardwood would work quite well too! You can replace the front and back covers if you like. I LOVE the solid feel when both are replaced. Some notebooks come with an elastic band to keep them closed. You can either keep the original back or remove the band and staple it to your new back (or add a new band altogether).

Any thickness of material can be used. the only thing to consider is that the thicker the material, the more you may need to remove some sheets of paper from the notebook to give it the space to open and close properly.

I recommend that you print the cover(s) you want to use on paper or cut on cardboard before cutting on more costly material so you can compare the fit to the notebook you choose.
