PROJECT OVERVIEW:

  • Watch the File Overview Video and Project Overview Videos above!
  • The set includes all 26 letters, A-Z.

  • All of the banks use the *same* base with a sliding door, making it easy to get the money out AND for you as the maker because all 26 letters use the same base.
  • This project is designed for 1/4" material (0.21"-0.25"). Although thinner material *can* be used, you'll have to use a LOT more layers, so I don't recommend it.

  • The number of spacers you'll use will be 6-7, depending on the thickness of your material. See overview videos.

  • You'll always start by measuring your material with your calipers and then edit the base slot if needed.

  • FUN OPTION! Add a name or other text to one of the spacer layers to personalize each bank for even more value!

  • Marketing Photos Included in your download folder

FILE FORMATS:

MEASUREMENTS:

  • ~5.75" tall x 6.41" wide x 2.79" deep

MATERIALS I USED:

  • 1/4" MDF
    • NOTE: I have two different thicknesses of 1/4" MDF - 0.21" and 0.25" - so I used 6 spacers with the 0.25" and 7 spacers with the 0.21".
  • 1/4" or 1/8" acrylic for the clear front. Either thickness can be used.
  • Rustoleum Filler Primer Spray Paint and Montana 94 Spray Paints
  • Gorilla Glue Super Glue Gel
  • Various PatternPly MDF from https://smokeyhilldesigns.com/

AMOUNT OF MATERIAL USED:

  • 1-2 sheets of 11" x 19" 1/4" material depending on the letter. Some only take 1 sheet, while others take a bit more. The letter W, for instance, is quite wide, so it takes the most, whereas the A fits on a single sheet.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

  • Slot size: 0.25"
  • You'll measure your materials and adjust the slot to fit your material
  • IMPORTANT: If you're painting the pieces, be SURE to allow for the additional thickness of paint on the tab to fit into the slot
  • The combination of your spacers need to be at least 1.3" to cover the hole in the base. That typically means 6-7 spacers.
  • The length of base tab is 0.69" and there are 3 layers for the base - so if your material is thinner than 0.23", you'll need to shorten the tab so it doesn't stick out of the bottom.

  • I got a cute, inexpensive set of small padlocks that can be used with the banks. They're not heavy duty, but they could be fun for a young child. You can check them out here. https://amzn.to/3PAHFbm
