MATERIALS I USED:

• We made several chess sets. We used 1/8" MDF for one and 1/8" Walnut Plywood and Birch for another.
  
  For the Walnut and Birch version we sprayed the wood with a clear poly sealer before cutting and then masked it and cut. That allowed the beautiful darker colors to come out and then for it to be clean from burn marks after cutting.
