Glowforge Sidecar Organizer

If you've got a Glowforge, chances are good that you stack various things on the sides of it just like I do.

When I created this simple organizer, I didn't realize how quickly I'd become used to it and love having it! It keeps all of the small tools I use organized and close at hand including things like my Exacto Knife, plastic razor blades, rubber bands, and the infamous "blue thing!" (the lens removal tool).

It comes with the files for cutting the main flat base, the flames around the button, trays, and tray organizer.

ProjectĀ Details

Ā ** See the video above for an overview of the project.

FILE FORMATS:
  • AI, PDF, EPS, SVG

Ā

MEASUREMENTS:

  • Base: 18.91" long x 6.96" wide
  • Tray Organizer: 7.7" tall x 5" deep x 6.8" wide
  • Trays: 5.5" wide x 4.5" deep x 1.6" tall

Ā

MATERIALS I USED:

  • 1/4" Walnut Plywood for the Base
  • 1/8" Walnut Plywood for the Trays
  • 1/8" Maple Plywood for the Tray Organizer

Ā

AMOUNT OF MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • The Base takes about half of one 12" x 20" sheet of wood
  • The Tray Organizer takes about 75% of a sheet
  • The Trays take about 40% of a sheet for each tray x however many you'd like to make

Ā

PRO TIP:
Want to make one to use on the left side of your Glowforge? Use the same file, but delete or ignore the hole for the button and flip it over. It'll fit nicely!Ā

Here's a 30 second video showing how to assemble the Tray Organizer:
