Determining Slot Size and Adjusting for Kerf Using a Slot Sizer
If you want to be able to make or adjust rectangle slots to fit your material snugly, then kerf is your friend! And it's so easy to work with!
Here's a video I shot this morning showing the basics of using a free tool like my Slot Sizer to make it quick and easy.
Several people have said that for a tool like this to work, it needs to be cut from each material that you work with. While that can technically be true if you are going for an extremely accurate fit, we've used a 1/8" MDF slot sizer here at our office for all materials we use and in this video I demonstrate that it can work well in most situations.
